Bibury is widely regarded as the most beautiful village in England — a perfect cluster of honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottages beside the River Coln in Gloucestershire. William Morris called it 'the most beautiful village in England', and the view across to Arlington Row — a terrace of 14th-century weavers' cottages owned by the National Trust — appears on countless calendars and travel features worldwide. The River Coln flows crystal-clear through the village past the Saxon Church of St Mary, whose origins date to the 9th century.
The village is tiny — just 620 residents — but draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The Bibury Trout Farm, established in 1902, lets visitors feed and catch rainbow trout beside the river. Bibury sits within the Cotswolds AONB and the surrounding villages of Barnsley, Coln St Aldwyns and Quenington are all within a short drive.
