Cushendun is one of the most celebrated and visually distinctive villages in Ireland — a tiny National Trust village of just 451 people at the mouth of the Glendun river, whose unique collection of Cornish-style whitewashed cottages designed by Clough Williams-Ellis (also creator of Portmeirion) in the 1920s give it a character quite unlike any other village in Northern Ireland.
The Cushendun Caves — dramatic red sandstone sea caves — were used as a filming location for Game of Thrones. The Glendun viaduct, a Victorian railway bridge high above the river, is one of the most photographed structures on the Antrim coast. The village's complete peace and tiny beach make it one of the finest places in Northern Ireland to simply be.
