Grassington is the most popular village in the Yorkshire Dales — a charming, characterful dales village in upper Wharfedale, whose cobbled market square, 18th-century stone houses and excellent pubs have made it the unofficial 'capital' of the upper Dales. It was the filming location for All Creatures Great and Small, where it doubled as the fictional market town of Darrowby.
Grassington sits in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, surrounded by some of the finest limestone scenery in England. The cobbled square is lined with independent shops, cafés and three excellent pubs. The Upper Wharfedale Museum tells the story of the lead mining industry. The Grassington Festival, held each June, is one of the Yorkshire Dales' most popular arts events.
