Mousehole (pronounced 'Mowzel') is widely considered the most beautiful fishing village in Cornwall — a tiny, ancient harbour village 3 miles south of Penzance. Dylan Thomas honeymooned here and called it 'the loveliest village in England'. The granite-quayed harbour, whitewashed cottages and views to St Michael's Mount create a scene that has inspired artists for generations.
Mousehole was attacked and burned by a Spanish raiding party in 1595 — only the Keigwin Arms survived. The village's Tom Bawcock's Eve celebration on 23 December commemorates a brave fisherman and culminates in the making of Stargazy Pie. The Christmas harbour lights attract tens of thousands of visitors each December.
